Wheelchairs in the Subway: One Woman’s Journey
There are 468 stations in the New York City subway system. Only 78 are wheelchair accessible—meaning the fully accessible system is just a hair larger than Philadelphia’s SEPTA network. Journalists Coral Garnick and Henry Gass produced this video looking at how one wheelchair user gets around town.

Guillermo de la Luz: Haitian Charro
An audio slideshow reported for a Columbia Journalism School assignment. With a partner I profiled Guy Bisserette, a Haitian immigrant working as a security on a construction site in West Harlem, who since he was 25 has had aspirations to become a famous Mexican folk singer. Bisserette has been singing Mexican folk for over three decades, and speaks fluent Spanish, yet he has never set foot in a Spanish-speaking country.

New York wrestling reacts to Olympics
On February 13th the IOC voted to drop Wrestling from the 2020 Olympics. The reaction from the wrestling community was quick and loud. Here, I heard the reactions from various wrestling clubs in New York City. Long in the shadow of more popular sports like basketball and football, wrestling is only now becoming popular among the city’s youth. With the IOC decision, the city’s wrestlers are now worried the absence of Olympic wrestling could undo all their work promoting and popularizing the sport. I shot and cut this video as part of an assignment for Columbia Journalism School.
